Happel Laser and Vein Center's New Status February 28, 2014

Happel Laser and Vein Centre Passes On Site Exam for Vein Center Full Accreditation on August 30, 2014.

Awesome achievement by the best vein center in Pittsburgh.

We are lucky it is located in Peter’s Township.

John Happel MD is located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and directs the first and only vein center in Pittsburgh to recently be granted accreditation in Varicose Veins and Superficial Venous Treatment and Management by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

The IAC is one of the most respected national credentialing organizations which also supervises the regulation of CT and MRI scanning, vascular ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and echocardiography ensuring the highest quality of these testing modalities in order to be eligible to receive reimbursement by Medicare and most insurance companies.

Accreditation by the IAC means that John Happel MD has voluntarily undergone a thorough review of his vein center’s operational and technical components by a national panel of experts.

The IAC grants accreditation only to those elite facilities that are found to excel by providing exceptional patient care, in full compliance with strict national standards after a comprehensive application process which includes a rigorous review of selected patient procedures.

Until now, the regulation of varicose vein procedures performed in the office setting has been nonexistent. Vascular societies have likened this scenario to that of the “Wild West” where there were no rules, laws, safety or protection.

Because the treatment of varicose veins has shifted from hospitals and surgery centers to the office setting, the vital need has arisen for the same safety and quality control standards that are followed by hospitals.

IAC accreditation is a “Seal of Approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that a vein center’s processes and procedures have been carefully evaluated by medical experts in the field of treatment and management varicose veins and superficial venous disorders.

When scheduling a vein procedure in any facility, patients are strongly encouraged to first inquire as to the accreditation status of the vein center where their treatment will be performed.
