A passenger in the car, Alicia Anjelica Serrano, 22, of Abilene, Texas, was also charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and prohibited offensive weapons. She was also taken to Washington County Jail on $250,000 bond.

State police said the two were spotted leaving Walmart in South Strabane with stolen property and were later scene by police driving on Route 19. South Strabane police tried stopping the pickup and were later joined by other departments when the driver refused to stop.

Police said the driver merged onto Interstate 79 heading north, at times driving against the flow of traffic. The chase continued to the Parkway West and police said Gutierrez exited off the Carnegie bus lane. Police said they made multiple attempts to stop the vehicle, but it continued through Carnegie and portions of Green Tree, Heidelberg and Scott.

The truck eventually crashed through a gate at the S.P. Kinney property on First Avenue in Carnegie at around 6:30 p.m. Police said Gutierrez tried to run away but was stopped when he couldn’t climb a fence. Serrano was found in the pickup truck, which police said was reported stolen earlier this month in Texas.

Police are continuing to investigate and more charges could be filed.
