Forecast Calls for Rain, Possible Afternoon Flurries

The National Weather Service said Pittsburghers will see snow flurries Wednesday afternoon.

It will begin to look a little bit like Christmas today.

Emphasis on the little.

While Wednesday’s morning rush-hour forecast calls for rain, the snow won’t start falling until later in the day.

But don’t hit the panic button yet.

Meteorologist Rihaan Gangat of the National Weather Service confirmed: There may be rain showers through the day—a 50-50 chance—with some flurries thrown in later, too.

“But there will be very, very little snow accumulation,” he said of northern Washington County and beyond. “You will see flakes, but that’s about it.”

And Gangat said to expect temperatures to dip to about 28 degrees tonight before soaring back into the mid-40s (with mostly sunny skies) on Thursday.

So, how long are people going to be singing, “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” sans snow?

“It’s hard to tell,” he said. “But this is a start—a nice transition.”
