Freezing Rain Causes Two-Hour Delay for Students

Road crews have been out since freezing rain fell, which will continue this afternoon into Wednesday with an inch of snow.

Peters Township School District is operating on a two-hour delay, with a modified kindergarten schedule, for Tuesday, Jan. 18. Lee Hendricks, of the National Weather Service Pittsburgh, says there is a 70 percent chance more freezing rain is to arrive this afternoon.

"The freezing rain did come, however I noticed road crews were out and roads were just fine," said Hendricks. "It's mostly parking lots and secondary roads."

They say to expect a cloudy day with temperatures in the lower 40s. Rain is to continue into the evening, with a 90 percent chance that we will see snow by morning -- up to an inch of accumulation. Temperatures Wednesday morning will be in the upper 20s.
