News Nearby: Lost Dog Finds a New Home

Stray found last month in Mt. Lebanon was adopted this week.

The owner of  was never located, but the dog has a new forever home.

The white dog with black spots was found in Mt. Lebanon on July 10 and taken to Clair’s Kennel near Upper St. Clair’s Municipal Building as workers tried to locate the owner. The kennel held the dog for 48 hours before handing him over to the Animal Rescue League of Pittsburgh.

A worker at the East Liberty shelter on Wednesday said he was adopted a few days ago and now has a new forever home.

Roy Hayward, a county animal control officer, said their Lost Pet Project works to locate the animal’s owner before turning them over to the Animal Rescue League, Animal Friend or the Humane Society.

“Without their help, we would have to euthanize a lot of wayward pets,” Hayward said. “We post all our missing pets after 48 hours on each of the web sites for the eight communities that we support.”
