One Inch of Snow Expected

The National Weather Service in Moon Township said the flakes will start flying sometime after midnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Peters Township area today, when rain is expected to turn to snow late tonight into Wednesday.

But meteorologist Lee Hendricks said not to worry: No major storm is headed this way.

"If we're gonna get snow this is the nice, easy way to ease into it," he said.

When temperatures start dipping in the evening hours, he said folks can expect the rain to be mixed with flakes until after midnight, when the area is expected to be draped in about an inch of snow.

And that's better than the forecast for the eastern suburbs of Allegheny County and communities in Beaver County, which are expected to see between 2 and 4 inches of snow tonight.

What about Wednesday morning?

"Just lingering snow showers," Hendricks said.
