Patch Pet of the Month: Bubby, a Blind Hound Dog, Needs a Home

Do you have room in your heart and home for this pooch?

I can’t see you, but if you didn’t know it you might be surprised to find out that I’m blind.

I negotiate the kennel, doorways and outside walking areas proficiently and I find treats from offering hands with my super-sensitive nose. I arrived here at Angel Ridge with a companion named Sissy who was recently adopted. We shared a kennel and got along very well and now I am restless for a home of my own, too.

Even with Sissy for company I tried many times to get out of my kennel in ingenious ways because I wanted to be outside with people after so many hours with nothing to do.

The volunteers like me a lot and try to get me out as much as possible. I have been on a few field trips, too because I am an excellent car dog and can be very gentle around children.

Recently I have been featured at some off-site events where lots of people are hanging around and petting me. But so far, nobody has come back to get me even though they can take me home for two weeks to see if we would be well-matched for each other.

Some people have asked, “Who’s gonna adopt that old, blind, hound dog?”

No one should be blinded by my lack of vision or age. It’s not such a big deal to have a blind dog. We get around quite well once we have the “lay of the land.”

Yes, I’m a senior dog, but very fit and trim as you can clearly see. Younger dogs need a lot more exercise and attention than a senior dog like me, but I am more than willing to take long walks with anyone who holds my leash.

I would be a fun and loving companion for so many families with or without kids. Surely anyone can see that … just by looking at me.
