Patch Pet of the Month: Wanna Be My Buddy?

This chocolate lab needs a forever home. Will it be yours?

I’m making the best of things here at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue. I’m just a young dog and I want to play, run, and perform—not be staying in a kennel day in and day out.

Everyone calls me “Buddy,” which makes me buddies with everyone I meet. I’m a smiling pup and if you show me even an ounce of interest, I’m gonna wag my tail and grin as wide as I can to get you to stay a little bit longer. Lots of people stop by to say hello to me, but they never stay very long.

I am a medium-size chocolate lab, but I have not quite figured out this “fetch” thing they keep showing me. Sure, I’ll chase whatever they throw, but then I come running back empty-mouthed, and ready for another launch. The tennis balls don’t seem all that special to me. I prefer the larger items I find lying around as they are so much more impressive when retrieving.

If you come to see me, you will notice that my head is wet a lot of the time. You see, I use my kennel water bucket as a diving pool, dunking my head and shaking it all around. I find it quite refreshing. I guess that makes me more of a water dog, which is a common Lab attribute. I might be a really fun swimming hole partner.

You will surely be quite impressed not only by my handsome looks, but also when you see how well I sit, give paw and lie down on command. I’m pretty darn smart and can certainly learn more tricks if given some one-on-one training.

I pull a bit when I first get outside on leash, but I ease up a lot after I’ve been out for a while and always after playing. I do like a lot of other dogs and have been very nice to all the people I see. Please come and meet me and you won’t want to leave without me.
