PennDOT Updates Ease Commute for Drivers

PennDOT officials remind drivers that they can sign up for traffic emails.

With all the construction and roadwork congesting morning commutes, PennDOT officials are reminding drivers that there’s a way to make planning your rush-hour drives a little easier.

Drivers can register to receive traffic and roadwork press releases directly from PennDOT. Information about particular roadways and projects also is available.

Several roads and projects that could be part of your commute—such as the , for those in —are included on the list.

Those who want to subscribe should specify their preference for receiving emails in these categories:

  • All roadways and bridges in Washington, Allegheny, Beaver or Lawrence counties (specify a county).
  • Weekend-only work and restrictions in Allegheny County.
  • Parkway East (I-376), including the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.
  • Parkway West (I-376).
  • Parkway North (I-279).
  • Interstate 79.
  • I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard/Veterans Bridge).
  • Liberty Tunnel improvements.
  • Route 28 (Allegheny Valley Expressway).
  • Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard).
  • Route 50.
  • Route 48 Boston Bridge.
  • Route 19 Wexford Flats Project.
