Winter Weather Warning to Continue Through 1 p.m.

Main roads in Peters Township were passable and mostly cleared as of Saturday morning; however, rain, sleet and more snow have been predicted likely.

Washington County 911 reports only one accident countywide as of early Saturday morning.

A winter storm warning remains in effect through 1 p.m. today—and first responders warn motorists to be vigilant on icy roadways.

Turketfoot and Venetia roads were mostly cleared and passable this morning. One reader told Patch that Peters Township Public Works crews "did a pretty good job of cleaning it up."

The Southwest Regional Police Department sent out an alert early Saturday morning advising that Interstate 70 was shut down near the Belle Vernon area.

But a Washington County 911 supervisors early Saturday said that, countywide, there was only one minor accident in Charleroi, although the roads remain icy.

The National Weather Service said more rain and sleet is likely before 10 a.m., with a chance of snow between 10 a.m. and noon.

The high temperature today is expected to be 31 degrees, its website states.
