10 Ways to Care for your Car on Cold Crappy Days

10 Vehicle Tips to Survive this Cold Snap- be sure you are prepared for the weather. Here are a few quick things to keep in mind over the next few days.

1.     Keep at least a quarter tank of fuel. Frozen fuel lines are not fun.

2.     Brush the snow off the car before you drive. Not only is it illegal, its inconsiderate and unsafe.

3.     Cold temperatures decrease air pressure in your tires. Check your tire pressure!

4.     Batteries die in extreme temperatures. If you have jumped your battery recently, a battery check couldn’t hurt.

5.     Wipers. Good wipers. 80% of crashes happen in situations of reduced visibility.

6.     Do NOT put water ON your car or IN the washer fluid reservoir. Hopefully this is self-explanatory.

7.     All wheel drive does not mean all wheel stop. Capability does not give you license to drive recklessly.

8.     Leave extra time to arrive at your destination. Rushing will not make you safer. Also leave extra space between vehicles when driving, reaction time is your friend.

9.     Headlights. Again, visibility is your friend.

10. The next nice warm day, brave the line at the car wash and get the salt off of your car. Corrosion will not help your resale value. Be sure to use a car wash that will rinse the undercarriage of your vehicle.
