Community Day with a Hamster

South Hills Chrysler Jeep Kia will be keeping it funky and fresh at Peters Township Community Day. Visit to win great stuff, hug a hamster and revel in the fun and energetic atmosphere!

School is out and the weather is warming up, which means Community Day on Saturday, June 30, is quickly approaching.

Here at  we are excited to be a part of this event for the first time in more than 10 years. Why the lapse in time? We didn’t have such a fantastic marketing director to organize events.

Yep, tooting my own horn here, but I am excited to tell everyone about our booth.

We will have a few cars on hand, including the new Kia Optima, a very sexy alternative to a boring mid-size sedan. This vehicle may be best known for the commercial that has a certain model featured—I can’t recall her name but she seems to be quite popular around the store—as well as a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

We will also have the best of Kia’s marketing campaigns with us, so come take your picture with a Kia hamster who will be "party rocking" all day long. We will be giving out some great things as well as a four-oil-change package, including car washes and safety inspections.

I can’t attest to the plans of other booths and vendors, but I know this day is fun for all the families and businesses in the township. As a local business, we really enjoy getting out and meeting new people and introducing our new faces as well.

Our new service director, Bill Winter, will be on hand as well as our newest Internet sales manager, Aaron Lynn. Along with myself and a life-sized hamster, we are bringing a fun and energetic crew to celebrate and entertain the community. Please stop by and hug a hamster. Hugs are complimentary and non-discriminatory, meaning drivers of all makes and models are welcome.

We also urge you to drive carefully in and around on community day and every day. Schools have released the masses and that means kids are out and about. Many families walk to the park from nearby homes—please use extreme caution as you drive, park and head home that day.

We also ask that you remain responsible in your enjoyment of the day. We have seen the clean-up crews work so hard to keep the park clean. Be mindful of your trash. This park is our shared space.

On my personal "must eat" list for community day is a funnel cake. Look for a future post on removing powdered sugar from a vehicle’s interior. Wishing everyone a safe and happy community day!

Editor's Note: Patch has a booth, too! Be sure to check out from last year's community day. And, for more detail about the festivities. See you there!
