Pittsburgher Juliann Sheldon Can Be a Miss America Finalist with Your Help

The Miss America Organization is holding an online voting contest to help determine a finalist during the Jan. 14 pageant. Voting closes on Jan. 12.

The region can come together to help Plum Borough resident and  earn a spot as a finalist during the Miss America pageant this month.

The Miss America Organization is giving the public an opportunity to vote for a finalist at the 2012 Miss America Pageant, broadcast live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Anyone can cast a vote for Sheldon via one of the following methods:

Visit www.missamerica.org/videocontest or visit the "Video Contest" tab at www.facebook.com/missamericaorganization. Follow the directions provided to select which contestant you want to vote for.

There is a limit of one vote per person and internet accessible device per contestant throughout the Voting Period, regardless of method of voting. Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. pacific time on Jan. 12.

Sheldon was crowned Miss Pennsylvania in June, just six months after getting her start in beauty pageants. Sheldon qualified for the Miss Pennsylvania competition after being crowned Miss Jewel of the West in April and is the first contestant to win the title in her first year since 1999, when Susan Spafford won the crown.

Spafford went on to win second runner-up in the 2000 Miss America pageant.
