On the Move with Our Favorite Neighbor

It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and on beautiful days like this, many of us start getting the itch to house hunt. Maybe you’re already well on your way to picking your new home, or maybe you’re about to move in.

Whatever part of the process you’re in, it’s exciting. And sad.

Sad? Well, let me explain.

At almost 26, our Marketing Coordinator, Laura, has moved out of her parents’ house and in and out of four apartments since her college days. Clearly, she hasn’t felt much attachment to any of these “homes.”

“They’re not really my ‘home,’ though,” she said, “But if my parents’ ever decided to move, whoa.”

She went on to explain the one time her parents did try to move when she was 9.

“I cried. And cried. And cried.” Luckily for Laura (but unlucky for her parents) the house had went into contingency before her parents could put a bid on it.

But what if they would have moved? How would her parents have dealt with a sad, homesick 9-year-old?

Our favorite neighbor, Mister Rogers himself, has some advice. Check out The Fred Rogers Company post about making a big move a little easier on kids.
