Obituary: H. Kenneth Giles Jr.

The McMurray resident graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1950 and was a veteran of the Korean War.

H. Kenneth Giles Jr. of McMurray, 84, died Monday after a short illness. 

A native of Philadelphia, he attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

At the conclusion of his tour of duty, he joined Bell of Pennsylvania, now Verizon, where he held various management positions, moving to western Pennsylvania in 1960.

After 35 years with the company, he retired in 1988. He joined Shiloh Industrial Contractors, Inc. of Lawrence, PA, that same year, where he served as controller for eight years.

Since 1998, he has been a volunteer chaplain at the Allegheny County Jail.

Giles was the beloved husband of Charlotte N. (Stauffer) Giles of Allentown, PA for 54 years; father of Carolyn R. (Michael) Janusey of Venetia and Kenneth H. Giles of Broken Arrow, OK; grandfather of Aaron, Nathan, Stephen and Kaitlyn Janusey, and Allison, Megan and Melissa Giles.

Funeral arrangements are being made by . Friends and family are welcome on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held privately.
