Obituary: Philip Scarsella, 83, Long-Time Peters Resident

Mr. Scarsella died on Saturday.

Philip Scarsella, 83, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, peacefully in his sleep. A long-time resident of Peters Twp., many years were spent there raising his family. He was a graduate of Geneva College. Phil retired from Washington Steel after 35 years.

Phil was previously married to Dorothy Scarsella, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Philip J. (Judith) Scarsella of Cary, N.C., Paul J. (Linda L.) Scarsella of Bethel Park, Denise A. (Elbie) Yaworsky of Ambridge, Debra (Patsy) Pitzarella of North Strabane, and Diana (Sgt. Maj. Randy) St. Cyr of Sumter, SC; sisters, Helen Reindl of Kissimmee, Fla., Mary Jane Monks and Rose “Roe” Stiffey, both of Midland; a brother, John A. Scarsella of Richmond; grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Ashley, Sean, Michael, Eric, Matt, Andrew, Paul, Jr., Jonathan, Joshua, and Rebekah; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Phil is also survived by his friend, Mary Lou Long of Mt. Lebanon, and was a friend of Bill.

Friends are welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 15317, on from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.  Tuesday at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Harmony Hospice, 811 Washington Avenue, Carnegie, PA 15106.
