Refreshing News out of Peters Township

During the Primary elections the voters in Peters did something unusual and that was they voted for two Republican and two Democratic individuals to fill the Republican School Board ticket for this upcoming General Election. While those on the extreme “right” of the local Republican party have caused these names of these two members of the Democratic Party to be excluded from the recent advertisement in the local paper I would like to present a different opinion.

While being in the unusual position of being on the Peters’ School Board and also being the Chairman of the Washington County Republican Party (WCRP); I find this ticket to be refreshing as well as the demonstration by the voters that supporting good people is what is needed and party affiliation, while important in some cases, is not the overwhelming factor when voting for positions like those running for Judges and School Boards.

But, like our voters, I believe that it is the individuals that are running, and the quality of those people that should make the difference. And while I was disappointed that all Republican candidates were not selected during the primary, I am very pleased that I know all of the candidates on the Republican ticket and having had the opportunity to work with all of them from time to time in a very positive manner.

So, I would like to support the same group the majority of Voters did during the primary election and those individuals are: Jamison Hardy (R), Rebecca Bowman (R), Lisa Anderson (D) and Sue Smith (D) for the position of School Board Directors.

I would also like to support those returning members of the Peters Township Council as well as Meghan Jones-Rolla for the 2 year remaining At-Large Council Chair (WCRP nominated candidate for the unfulfilled term of Mr. Atkinson).
