Two Dozen Firearms Stolen, Peters Police Investigating

Peters Township police are investigating the report of a stolen mailbox.

Peters police are investigating the theft of two dozen rifles and shotguns from a storage facility in the township.

Police said a man—who was not named—reported the burglary of his storage unit at TAR Self Storage located at 3054 Washington Rd.

Police said the man visited the storage unit Sept. 13 and noticed it was secured using a lock with which he was unfamiliar. He called TAR management, who cut off the lock. After looking through the unit, he discovered that the firearms were missing and called police.

It was not clear when the burglary took place, police said. The value of the stolen firearms was not immediately known.

Police are also investigating the theft of a mailbox from a residence in the 100 block of Irishtown Road sometime overnight Sept. 13.

Peters police did not release the name of the homeowner.
