Blotter: Peters Man Jailed on Retail Theft Charges, No Injuries in One-Vehicle Crash

A Peters Township man was jailed on a retail theft charge following an incident at Giant Eagle Wednesday evening.

Police said officers were summoned to the store after the manager and loss prevention officer took an alleged shoplifter into custody.

Store officials told police that they observed Conor Errey, 20, take two energy bars and a supplement drink off the shelf and leave without paying.

When approached by store officials outside, Errey reportedly said that he had left to get his wallet, which he had forgotten.

But police said Errey was also found to have three bottles of supplements, as well.

Errey was arraigned before district Justice James Ellis and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $1,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear before Ellis for a preliminary hearing on July 2.

No Injuries Reported After One-Vehicle Crash
Police said a brake malfunction likely led to a one-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which happened in the 400 block of East McMurray Road around 3:20 p.m.

Police said trafic was backed up, and that Robert A. Walton tried to brake, but could not—leading him to swerve to avoid a rear-end collision with a stopped car.

Police said Walton's truck crashed into a tree.
