Canonsburg Woman Charged With False Reports Over Peters Shooting 'Hoax'

Tara Howard was jailed after failing to post $5,000 bond.

A Canonsburg woman was jailed early Thursday after being charged by Peters Township police with disorderly conduct and making false reports.

Tara Howard, 36, was charged by Peters Township police Wednesday and arraigned early Thursday before district Judge Jay Weller, online court records indicate.

The Observer Reporter newspaper indicates that several area departments surrounded a house in the 400 block of Justabout Road in Peters Township Wednesday afternoon after Washington County 911 received a call that someone was shot and bleeding inside the residence. It was later determined to be a hoax, as reported online by the Peters Township Volunteer Fire Department on its Facebook page.

Weller remanded Howard to the Washington County Jail after she failed to post a $5,000 bond.

Howard was still listed as an inmate there are of Wednesday morning, according to the Washington Count Jail site.
