Chartiers Valley Student Killed in Car Crash

A 15-year-old boy died Wednesday night when the car he was riding in crashed on Scotts Run Road in Collier.

, 15, died at the scene of the 7:40 p.m. crash along Scotts Run Road near Noblestown, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office. He is believed to be from Heidelberg.

Katonka and four other Chartiers Valley students were in the vehicle during the single-car crash, Chief Thomas Devin said. Two were taken to Childrens Hospital and the other two were taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Devin said he could not release their names or conditions.

Devin said speed was probably a factor in the crash, and Allegheny County police are leading the accident investigation. Devin said a teenage girl was driving the car that crashed.

Chartiers Valley school officials said for any students who would like to talk about the tragedy.

“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families impacted by last night’s tragedy,” the school said in a statement.
