Downed Poles Close East McMurray for Short Time

'A domino effect' of five to six poles fell between Center Church Road to Rolling Hills Country Club Monday evening, the Peters fire chief confirmed.

East McMurray Road, between Center Church Road to , has reopened after it was closed for a short time due to downed poles, Chief Noel "Mac" McMullen confirmed. 

At approximately 5 p.m. Monday, Verizon workers were cutting some of the power lines between poles. They dropped a pole—purposely—however, it reacted in a sense of a "domino effect," McMullen said. 

"They are heavy lines," he said. "Once one pole was pushed by the weight, it pushed the next pole and so on." The chief estimated five to six fallen poles.

One pole landed on a moving vehicle, but the driver was uninjured and not taken by ambulance to an area hospital, he said.
