Drivers Cited for Trying to Move Valley Brook Road Closure Signs

The Valley Brook construction project recently began and is scheduled to run through July 2014.

The Valley Brook Road construction has caused headaches for many Peters Township drivers, but some still apparently refuse to use the detour.

Peters Township police have had to cite about three drivers for moving the traffic barriers and trying to go around them, according to Chief Harry Fruecht.

Freucht also said the department has received a complaint from the Thompsonville area about speeding.

But overall, Fruecht said, police have not received many calls regarding the major detour.

"I think we're surprised with how few complaints we're getting," Fruecht said.

Police will continue to spend extra time around the Valley Brook detour.

The project to reconstruct Valley Brook's intersections with Route 19 and Old Washington Road will continue through July 2014.

According to PennDOT, 11,000 vehicles use Valley Brook Road on an average day.
