Finleyville Man to Stand Trial on 41 Heroin-Related Charges

A Finleyville man on Tuesday will stand trial for myriad drug charges after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before district Judge James Ellis.

Peters Township police on June 27 charged Alphonso Griffin Jr. with a count of possession of drugs, one count of use of drugs, one count of criminal use of a communication device and 38 counts of possession with intent to deliver, which are felonies.

The charges stem from a June 21 incident, online court records show.

Police said officers had became of a drug deal that was to take place in the parking lot of a local eatery.

When they arrived that afternoon, they discovered Griffin with 40 baggies of heroin, stamp bags and a scale.

He was arraigned before district Judge James Ellis, who remanded him to the Washington County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

Griffin was still listed as an inmate there as of Wednesday.
