Peters, North Strabane Fire Departments Receive Grant for Volunteer Firefighter Recruiting

The grant was for $43,000.

The Peters and North Strabane Township Fire Departments have received a $43,200 Grant from the U. S. Fire Administration to develop and implement a program to recruit new volunteer firefighters in both communities.

This grant was submitted under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response—SAFER—program, and Peters fire Chief Dan Coyle and North Strabane Fire Chief Mark Grimm received notification of the award earlier this summer.

The grant will cover this program over a two-year period, and will be used to develop a new firefighter recruit program which will include communications, media, equipment, supplies and administration.
