Peters Police, Superintendent Call Football Investigation Quits

Peters Township police Chief Harry Fruecht told the media Wednesday 'there is nothing new that warrants an investigation.'

A press conference was called to order Wednesday afternoon regarding the recently-opened against head football coach Rich Piccinini.

chief Harry Fruecht told the media his department interviewed seven people who came forward and that his staff has "failed to produce new information that warrants the investigation to continue."

He said one parent and six students came forward, but wouldn't disclose the exact number of people his department interviewed.

Superintendent Nina Zetty thanked the Peters police for their efforts in the investigation. 

"We know that they share our concern for the safety of all students in our community," she said. "With the results of their investigation, that echo the inquiry conducted with the athletic department, we hope that everyone can now move forward in cooperation with the athletic department, coaches and parents as they prepare for the next football season."

She told the media all students who came back to the district with medical releases from the therapist at were put back into play.

"We didn't let that occur for those without releases," she said. 

As far as new measures go, Zetty reiterated that all coaches must take an online class regarding safety precautions.

"This is our protocol," she said, regarding the new policy approved last year.

"We know that this has been a very difficult time for Coach Piccinini, and the district offers its continued support to him and his team in moving this program forward."
