UPDATE: Motorist Turns, Causes Police Car to Crash

No injuries were reported from the scene in St. David's Anglican Church parking lot, Peters police said.

A motorist who was trying to get out of the way of a Peters police car in pursuit of another vehicle ended up causing the police car to crash last week.

Just after 7 p.m. last Friday, the  car was towed after it was reported the motorist drove between the police cruiser and the vehicle the officer was trying to stop on East McMurray Road, police said.

No injuries were reported.

A 17-year-old, of Venetia, pulled off to the right side of the road thinking Officer Jason Brunetti, 26, was trying to stop her. Brunetti was actually after the driver of the car in front of her vehicle, police said.

The juvenile said she did not look in her mirror after believing he was trying to stop her and started to make a left turn into the parking lot of —in an effort to "move out of the way."

Brunetti tried to avoid hitting the juvenile's vehicle and steered left driving over the curb stops of St. David's parking lot. The police car had damage to the tires and had to be towed from the scene.
