Police Report: Feb. 1 - Feb. 8

A recap of recent police activity, including a jewelry theft in excess of $34,000.

Feb. 1, 11:23 p.m.; Richard J. Relich, 60, Peters Township athletic director, was charged with a DUI late Tuesday. Report details can be read in our Feb. 2 breaking news . UPDATE: As of Feb. 10, Relich has also been charged by Kennedy Township police for the hit-and-run crash earlier that evening. There was no arraignment, according to police.

Feb. 1, 4:19 a.m.; Keith Ryals, 31, of Eagle Point Drive in Canonsburg, was charged with public drunkenness, and other similar misconduct, after police arrived on the scene to find a vehicle off-roaded into a snowbank at the 100 block of North Heide Lane. Police say the roads were ice covered that evening. Ryals smelled strong of alcohol, was slurring his speech and was disoriented, according to police. He proceeded to demand help from a neighbor. Police say his car battery was dead and the engine was cold.

Feb. 3; Police are investigating an incident of embezzlement at . Police have an idea of a suspect and are not releasing an amount at this time.

Feb. 8, 11:33 a.m.; Police are currently investigating a theft, which occurred at the 600 block of Scenic Ridge Drive. Stephenson Construction Inc., of 5111 Dolores Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15227, is reporting stolen equipment such as, five pieces of gray scaffolding, 13 2 x 10 x 16-foot planks, a 32-foot aluminum ladder, 16 screw jacks, 17 outriggers and 2 corner poles -- all valued at $2,500. 

Previously not posted -- Jan. 30, 6:06 p.m.; David Mollner, 20, of Pioneer Trail in Canonsburg, and Corey Franz, 20, of McDonald, were arraigned by District Justice James Ellis and charged with jewelry theft, in excess of $34,000.

Ellis set bail for the two suspects at $25,000. Residents at the 100 block of Irishtown Road arrived home from vacation to find jewelry missing from the master bedroom, which was ultimately recovered. Mollner remains in Washington County Correctional Facility.

FYI: The search no longer continues for the driver of the Saturn Ion, which was involved in the minor Peters Township bus accident, Jan. 27 at 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of Crest Drive and Pleasant Ave. The accident has now been reported to the state.
