Three Charged With Retail Theft in Peters Township

Police said officers were summoned to Pittsburgh Comics for a retail theft complaint.

One man was arrested after running from the scene. Two others were charged after a traffic stop.

Matthew Johns, 32, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy after police caught up with him in a construction site on Washington Road.

Johns was arraigned Sunday before district Judge James Ellis and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $25,000 bond.

Matthew Thompson, of Bethel Park, and Maggie Ann Brown, of Canonsburg, are being charged with retail theft and conspiracy, police said.

Brown will also be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Police have accused the trio of stealing $1,200 worth of supplements from GNC, supplements from Giant Eagle, items from the Hallmark store and items from Pittsburgh Comics.

GNC, Giant Eagle and the Hallmark store are all located in the Crossroads shopping center. Pittsburgh Comics is nearby on East McMurray Road.

Police are still investigating.
