Update: Township Officer Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

Two vehicles collided at the entrance of the Shining Star Car Wash on Route 19.

Officer Jay Griffith was transported to Canonsburg General Hospital, treated and released, following a two-vehicle crash on Route 19 shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Griffith was traveling northbound on Route 19, responding to a retail theft at Route 19 Beer/, and attempted to make a left turn when his patrol car was struck by a 2006 Pontiac Vibe driven by William Staley, 82, of Clubview Drive in McMurray. Griffith's car traveled over southbound lanes and stopped in front of .

Staley was traveling southbound in the curbed lane and the vehicles collided, police Capt. Yanchak said. 

Staley was not injured, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
