Woman Briefly Jailed for Simple Assault in Peters

Diane Cushman was remanded to the Washington County Jail Monday.

A Peters woman was briefly jailed Monday after township police charged her with a single count of simple assault.

Diane Cushman, 66, was arraigned before district Judge Ethan Ward Monday and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $5,000 straight bond, online court records show.

Peters police said she was charged after an incident in her home.

She was no longer listed as an inmate there as of Tuesday morning, according to the Washington County Jail website.

Cushman is scheduled to appear before district Judge James Ellis at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 for a preliminary hearing.
