Arlen Specter Dies at Age 82

The former U.S. Senator died Sunday morning.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday morning due to complications from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Specter was 82.

The Pennsylvania senator was elected to the Senate in 1980 and served for 30 years, which is longer than any other Pennsylvania senator. He lost the seat in 2010, after switching from the Republican to the Democratic party.

Specter suffered a number of illnesses over the past two decades.
