Center Church Road Construction Update

Single lane closures Monday through Friday will continue until the current part of the project is complete, PennDOT says.

So by now you've noticed the orange cones and steady stream of single-lane traffic at the crest of the hill where East McMurray and Center Church roads meet.

, which began in April, is being done to improve safety of the intersection. In March, , East McMurray Road will be widened and a traffic signal will be added. 

It will be widened to provide right and left turning lanes at the intersection of South Center Church Road, and a left turn lane at the intersection of North Center Church Road. The new traffic signal will be added to the South Center Church Road intersection.

The $871,916 project, being completed by A. Liberoni, Inc., will be complete in late October—tentatively Oct. 26.

However, PennDOT spokeswoman Valerie Petersen said the single lane closures will only run until the contractor completes this part of the project.

As West Penn Power and Verizon relocate the lines, single lane closure—between Holly Drive Road and 300 feet northeast of North Center Church Road—will continue to be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice. 

, township Manager Michael Silvestri said this high-priority project will address the most significant accident intersection off of Route 19.
