Concerns in Peters About Proposed Coal Mine

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday.

Some Peters Township Council members said they've received inquiries from residents about proposed deep coal mining in Nottingham Township.

According to maps shown during Monday's council meeting, the operation would occur under part of Peters Township. The Peters homes above the proposed coal mining operation are located off Venetia Road, West of Bebout, according to township officials.

Township Manager Michael Silvestri said he plans on attending the public hearing scheduled for 7:20 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in the Nottingham Township Municipal Building on 909 Sugar Run Road, Eighty Four. Silvestri wants to learn more information about the application and how it might affect Peters.
