Corbett Declares August Firefighter Appreciation Month

The governor encourages residents to thank their local departments.

Gov. Tom Corbett issued a proclamation for the State of Pennsylvania declaring that the month of August be known as Firefighter Appreciation Month.

The proclamation acknowledges the hard work and dedication of Pennsylvania firefighters, especially considering their loyalty to raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a release indicated.

The International Association of Fire Fighters is the largest national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“I encourage all Pennsylvanians to extend their gratitude to their local firefighters and join with them in commemorating the 57th anniversary of their partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association,” Corbett said in the proclamation.
