Garbage Pickup To Be Completed Wednesday

Waste Management missed a number of neighborhood pickups last week.

Additional garbage trucks are in Peters Township Wednesday to pick up the trash that was not picked up last week.

Two trucks are dedicated to picking up the trash that was missed on Saturday.

Waste Management missed the trash pickups on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week. The pickups were already delayed because of the Christmas holiday.

Waste Management said Saturday pickups were missed because of inclement weather, but it's unclear why Thursday and Friday pickups were missed.

The following message was posted on the township's website from the township Manager Michael Silvestri:

I have sent a formal notice of violation to Waste Management and notified them that their response to this issue is unacceptable.  I apologize to our residents for this failure of one of our basic services.  The acceptable response from Waste Management should have been to make sure all of the garbage not collected on Thursday be picked up on Friday and all of Saturday's today.  We will be examining all our options with Waste Management under the contract to seek compensation to our residents for this failure to perform.  I realize this is one of the worst weeks for such a failure as it being one of the heaviest amount of garbage generated for the year, plus many residents have parties planned for the New Year.  Once again, I apologize for this situation and thank you for your understanding.
