UPDATED: Gilman Secures Washington County Judge Seat

Democrat Gary Gilman won the judge's race securing 54 percent of the vote.

It was a close race to the judge's seat for Democrat and Republican .

According to unofficial Washington County results through the Washington County Election office, Gilman secured 53.9 percent of the vote, while Turturice secured 46 percent.

"I feel wonderful, elated, thrilled and ecstatic," Gilman said. "It's hard to put into words. It's surreal—I'm as happy as can be."

Gilman said going forward he's not spoken to the president judge yet, but he presumes he'll be working in the family court division.

"First thing, I'd like to go to the family law section meeting—whenever that may be—and address the bar, and talk to them about things that they would like to see from me and discuss things I’d expect from them."

Gilman said he has not spoken to Turturice since election results were tallied. 

"I'm looking forward to getting started and working," he said. "I'm excited about the positon and duties that I'll have."
