High Priority Road Project to Begin, Improve Safety

East McMurray Road, near Center Church Road, will be widened and a traffic signal will be added—construction starts April 2.

residents will soon be enjoying a wider and safer intersection of East McMurray and Center Church roads.

East McMurray Road will be widened to provide right and left turning lanes at the intersection of South Center Church Road, and a left turn lane at the intersection of North Center Church Road. In addition, a new traffic signal will also be added to the South Center Church Road intersection.

"This is a high priority project of Peters Township," said township Manager Michael Silvestri. "It is a project that will address the most significant accident intersection off of Route 19."

Resurfacing and other miscellaneous construction will be performed within the limits of the project.

"The township is financially participating in this project," he said. "This has long been anticipated by residents in the area. It is considered a safety improvement."

Beginning April 2, single-lane restrictions will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Holly Drive Road and 300 feet northeast of North Center Church Road.

Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 26. A contract for $871,916.99 was awarded to A. Liberoni, Inc.
