HVAC System Replacement Project to Commence in June

Township manager Michael Silvestri said the project would likely extend through November.

The aging heating and cooling system at the Peters Township Municipal Building run the temperature gamut—some run too hot and some are always too cold.

Manager Michael Silvestri said those issues will finally be addressed this June, when the township embarks on its HVAC replacement project.

"We've had a lot of problems," he said, adding that the system was last renovated in 1986, when an addition to the building was constructed.

Silvestri said the project will entail changing the heating and cooling methodology, and willl also include improvements that will make it more energy efficient.

The basic piping, however, will remain the same.

The project will be completed by East West Mechanics, and is expected to cost about $480,000.

Silvestri said that the project is expected to begin in June, and that it is expected to be completed no earlier than November.

He said there would be some disruption for township employees.

There will be periods where certain areas have no heat or air conditioning, and the work will mean periods of loud noise, Silvestri said.

Additionally, he said that the planning department would need to be relocated from the ground floor to various offices on the first and second floors.
