Cindy Ollendyke's science classes spent much of their day commemorating Sept. 11, 2001 with a hands-on approach.
students in Mrs. Cindy Ollendyke's science classes spent much of their day remembering Sept. 11, 2001 with a hands-on approach.
As part of a positive service effort, the students planted bulbs and fall flowers in the garden around the flag pole outside of the school building.
Designed and created by the Class of 2010 when they were in eighth grade, the flag pole is dedicated to those in Peters who have served in the armed forces. The pole is visible from E. McMurray Road.

There is a memorial stone at the flag pole in honor of 1914 Peters graduate William Boyd Phillips, a private (Pvt.) who served in the U.S. Army. Phillips died in 1918 while serving in World War I.
"We will never forget," Ollendyke said as she reflected on the day, remembering those who've given so much and her students' volunteering efforts.
