Pleasant Valley Named a National Blue Ribbon School

The school is one of 14 in Pennsylvania given the award.

Thursday, the U.S. Department of Education named as a National Blue Ribbon School.

According to a release, this year, 304 schools were designated as 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement gaps.

The department will honor the entire 255 public and 49 private schools with their awards at a conference and awards ceremony Nov. 14-15 in Washington, D.C.

“On behalf of the Pleasant Valley family, we are extremely excited to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School,” school Principal Michael Fisher said in a statement.

“The success at Pleasant Valley can be attributed to our dedicated faculty and staff, supportive parents, community and past educators who have set the standard for Pleasant Valley’s tradition of excellence.”

PV was recognized among the highest performing public and private schools as measured by their performance on state assessments.

A total of 14 schools in Pennsylvania were awarded the honor.
