Viewfinder: Spring Character Counts Awards

Awards were presented to recognized residents April 12.

Character is a key component of the Peters Township School District and community. The district was one of two schools nationwide to receive the 2010 National School District of Character Award, and recently received a Congressional Proclamation from Congressman Tim Murphy.

The Peters Township Character Counts Committee welcomed residents to the Spring 2011 Recognition Awards at the municipal building April 12. It values the importance of recognizing your peers, colleagues, neighbors and students "for making a commitment to the ideals of respect, honesty and responsibility."

The committee noted that there are so many people who meet the character counts goal on a regular basis and are never recognized in the award program. Committee members thanked nominators for publicly nominating "these outstanding individuals."
