Dance Teams Conquer Nationals, Set New Record

Both Peters Township High School teams finished in top three overall.

The  junior varsity and varsity dance teams returned home with national honors earlier this week.

Both teams came away with top three finishes overall at the National Dance Alliance Championships last weekend in Orlando, FL.

The junior varsity team earned a spot in the finals by taking second place in the semi-final round. In the finals, they again placed second, with only a performing arts school finishing ahead of them in the standings.

Ashlee Olivo and Megan Chicone coach the squad.

"We couldn't be more proud of our JV girls," they said. "They stayed focused and danced their hearts out!"

The varsity team—coached by Dominique Deliere Schuster and Barbara Deliere—set a new team record by taking first in the preliminary round and earning an immediate placement in the finals.

Out of 58 schools in the Small Varsity Hip-Hop Division, the varsity squad earned third place in the nation.

More than 300 teams participated in the competition from 35 states across the country.
