The notified parents and students this afternoon about the passing of a staff member.
Custodian Rick Goodell died unexpectedly last night. He worked at and had worked in several district buildings. He was a member of the school community, principal Lori Pavlik wrote—on behalf of the district—in an email to parents.
"It is with great sadness that we write to you today," she wrote. "On behalf of the entire Peters Township School District, we have extended our sincere condolences to the Goodell family on this sad occasion."
An emailed letter was also sent by Glenn Franceschina, district supervisor of Buildings, Grounds and Transportation.
The high school has arranged to have counselors available to talk with students about normal response to grief. Over the weekend, if help is needed, the district urges you to contact the Resolve Crisis Network at 888-796-8226.
