Get Out: Comedy Night, Oktoberfest & Open Ballet Auditions

Check out what's happening this weekend in Peters and surrounding areas.

Where/When: 800 Venetia Road, Finleyville, PA 15332, Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go?: As a part of its fundraising efforts, the Venetia Heritage Society is sponsoring a school yard sale at the Venetia Community Center. The sale will feature a flea market, food and beverages. Those who wish to participate are welcome to purchase a table area for $10. Call 724-941-6956 if you are interested in participating.

Where/When: Library Fire Hall, Friday, 6-11 p.m.
Why Go?: Help support the PT Soccer Boosters and enjoy a fun-filled night including a scrumptious buffet dinner, delectable desserts, beer, pop, tons of silent and Chinese auctions, and entertainment hosted by David Kaye, Pittsburgh’s "King of Comedy." The program will feature the act of Billy Benden, top Cleveland comic, and a hilarious headliner, John Evans, as seen on Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing. Where?/When?: St. Peter & St. Paul Hall, Friday to Saturday, 8 p.m.
Why Go?: Stage & Steel Productions presents "End Game: The rolePLAY!" PTHS senior is cast in the show. After the loss of a friend, Fred, this group of gamers gather together in his memory. They find out that on his request they are to play a game that he had written for them after he was gone. The players grow and change throughout the game as their game characters live the story for the audience. The game was supposed to be finding a treasure, but leads to another quest, one that leads into danger and darkness. See the connections between the players and their characters, as they all pay homage to the passing of a friend. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Where/When: Downtown Canonsburg, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Come enjoy the 13th Annual Oktoberfest in downtown Canonsburg! Enjoy your favorite German foods and entertainment, and add that extra fun twist that only Canonsburg can provide. The event also features kids’ activities, music, the Pittsburgh Railway and more!

Where/When: , Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Why Go?: The American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania is now offering classes in Pet First Aid and CPR. Learn how to give immediate and temporary care to an animal until it can be taken to a professional veterinarian for expert medical care and attention. Participants receive permanent certification from the American Red Cross. All proceeds support disaster relief. Register at the library's circulation desk.

Where/When: , Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Join other players for the brawl tournament series. Show off your skills and win some great prizes. The top scorers will earn the chance to compete and win in the December Grand Championship. All ages are welcome. Players must check in before 12 p.m.

Where?/When?: Pottery Barn Kids at the Galleria, Saturday, 3-5 p.m.
Why Go?: Pottery Barn rolls out the red carpet for the anticipated Blu-ray release of the Star Wars saga. Dress up as your favorite character and bring your camera for a photo op, giveaways and chance to win a Blu-ray box set.

Where/When: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Saturday, 6-8 p.m.
Why Go?: St. Paul's Outreach Commission presents a Buy Fresh, Buy Local buffet dinner. The event will raise funds for the rebuilding of the Episcopal cathedral in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as well as other local projects. The theme for the dinner will showcase local nutritious fresh foods in this harvest season and celebrate Pennsylvania's tradition of farming. The meal will feature many local products, including meats, vegetables and fruits. Tickets are on sale after church services, or in the church office weekdays.  
Pricing: $10 for adults and teens; $5 for children ages 5-12

Where/When: , Saturday, 7 p.m.
Why Go?: Music will fill the autumn night air as the Mighty Indian Marching Band hosts its 17th annual band festival at the Peters Township High School stadium. High school marching bands performing at this year’s festival include Carrick, Langley, West Greene, Avella, Upper St. Clair, Chartiers-Houston, Burgettstown, Keystone Oaks and the Peters Township Mighty Indian Marching Band. The PTHS choirs will perform the Alma Mater.
Pricing: Admission is $6 adults; $4 for students and senior citizens

10.
Where?/When?: , Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
Why Go?: Pittsburgh Youth Ballet Company is holding two open auditions. The schedule is 1-2:30 p.m.; Junior Company, ages 6-12 and 2:30-4 p.m.; Senior Company, ages 12-21. Dancers should wear class colors if they are a student of PYBC school. Participants should please arrive 30 minutes for registration.
