J.J. Jankowski Drafted by Houston Astros

The Peters High School baseball standout was selected in the 34th round of the MLB draft.

Jordan "J.J." Jankowski, a 2008 graduate of , was selected last week by the Houston Astros in the 34th round of the Major League Baseball draft.

A senior at Catawba College in North Carolina, the right-hander was 9-2 this season with a 3.79 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 901⁄3 innings, according to the Tribune-Review.

Jankowski leads the NCAA Division II in strikeouts, the Post-Gazette reports.

He is the second baseball star from Peters Township to make it to the Major League this draft. , also a 2008 graduate, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Both Jankowski and Rider were named to the Post-Gazette All-Area baseball team in 2008.
