The district will spend nearly $28,000 on improvements.

The Peters Township School Board Tuesday night unanimously approved the following security purchases from Allegheny Safe & Lock for the district's buildings in light of the Newtown tragedy:

  • $9,784 - Swipe access cards for additional doors of the district facilities
  • $10,800 - Video phones in five district buildings
  • $7,360 - Wireless security in each building

The buildings and grounds committee made the recommendation to the school board after administrators, some school board members and Peters police went through all the buildings to examine how to improve security.
