Peters Fourth Graders Take on the Stock Market

Students are investing $100,000 in an online portfolio—hypothetically.

Accelerated math students in Jamie MacKay’s class are taking on Wall Street.

With some help from McMurray enrichment teacher Alyson Boyer, students are learning about the stock market and have been challenged to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. The students are working in teams, with one McMurray team leading a regional competition.

Prior to investing, students were taught financial terms, how to read financial data and how to research quality stocks.
