Peters One of U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools

Peters Township High School is ranked 14th in Pennsylvania.

is the 14th best public, charter or magnet high school in Pennsylvania, and the 780th best in the nation, according to new rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

Nearby Upper St. Clair High School came in 9th in the state and 604th in the nation; Mt. Lebanon High School was ranked 8th in the state and 557th in the nation. 

U.S. News teamed up with American Institutes for Research and analyzed 21,776 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

Researchers calculated the schools' math and reading proficiency and college-readiness performance using Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test data as the benchmarks for success.

Other Pittsburgh-area high schools to make the top 50 in Pennsylvania are Hampton High School, ranked 13th; North Allegheny Senior High School, ranked 17th; Fox Chapel Area Senior High School, ranked 27th; South Fayette Township High School, ranked 36th; and Ligonier Valley Senior High School, ranked 47th.
