Peters Township High School Commencement Slated for Friday

Need to know where to park? What time to arrive? We have you covered.

The Peters Township High School Class of 2013 will celebrate its graduation this Friday.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the high school stadium.

District officials said that if the decision is made to move the event inside because of inclement weather, parents of graduating seniors will be notified via the Global Connect calling system.

A notice will also be posted on the district website.

"Large events like this also create challenges with parking and traffic along East
McMurray Road. Police and staff members will be directing traffic on East McMurray and in the lots," a district spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman issued the following advice to those who plan to attend:
1. Leave early and allow plenty of extra time.
2. Consider using one of the parking shuttles that will be available from
both the middle school and Peters Township Fire Department. Shuttles and golf carts will also be on hand for those parking in the Pleasant Valley lots.
3. Consider carpooling to reduce the demand on parking and traffic leading
to the school.
4. For those who arrive early, premium parking will be available in the main
stadium lot. Once that lot is full, cars will be directed to the student lot, and
then up to Pleasant Valley. Staff members will be on hand to direct you to the closest available parking upon your arrival.
